In 1926, founder Adolphe Maes established 'Werkhuizen Adolphe Maes' in Zwevegem (Belgium), which produced textiles for furniture, mattresses, and work clothing.
To celebrate the founding of our family business, we recreated a classic jacquard, inspired by our founders’ traditional techniques. This festive design symbolizes craftsmanship, artisanship, and the solid foundation of our century-long journey.

The Maes family believes in the value of specialized skills. By focusing exclusively on mattress fabrics, we have built deep expertise for lasting quality. That is why Maes is dedicated to weaving Belgian-made mattress ticking.
This design is inspired by a classic jacquard, honoring the textile traditions we continue to protect. The pattern reflects the craftsmanship and exacting standards we have upheld since the 1960s.

Innovation has always been at the heart of Maes. As a leader in the textile industry, we were the first to introduce CAD/CAM software into our design department. This technology allowed us to create designs faster, with greater precision and creativity. For this fabric, we selected a modern knit pattern that reflects the forward-thinking spirit and bold innovation of the late 1970s.
< BACK TO OVERVIEWThe name 'Werkhuizen Adolphe Maes' is changed to 'Maes Mattress Ticking' to reflect our products. Through focusing on a single market segment, our export market grew significantly.

The family business relocated to the Breemeers industrial area in Zwevegem (Belgium) to allow for continued growth. The location on the canal is ideal for the installation of the Maes water purification plant, reflecting our core value of sustainability. Inspired by subtle movements of water, this contemporary design translates Maes' progressive and sustainable vision from the 1980s.
< BACK TO OVERVIEWMaes is the first in the industry to install electronic air-jet looms. This investment ensures greater performance and sustains the highly regarded Maes quality.
< BACK TO OVERVIEWIn the late 1980s, Maes added textile finishing to the production process to meet customer requirements. This allowed for a more diverse range of products and greater quality control.

In 1996, Jef Maes, son of Sylveer Maes, took over the entire family business. With his years of expertise and knowledge, the business thrives. Jeff remains involved, guiding the fourth generation and supporting them when needed.
The accompanying design is Jef Maes's favorite and pays tribute to his personal style and vision: a pure jacquard that reveals its splendor in every detail. At the same time, it reflects Maes' expansion into international markets, where our mattress covers are becoming increasingly popular.

In the late 1990s, knitted fabrics began to grow rapidly in popularity. Maes decided to expand beyond weaving and specialize in high-quality knit fabrics as well. In 2000, we also added finishing for knitted fabrics to our production process.
This design marks one of our very first knit developments and the beginning of an important new chapter in our history.

Modern systems like this help ensure continuous improvement and maintain our reputation for 100% Belgian Premium quality.
< BACK TO OVERVIEWMaes is installing solar panels to reduce its ecological footprint. The installation aligns with its sustainability policy and its commitment to green energy. With this investment, the company will now generate a large portion of its energy itself. This not only reduces energy costs but also CO2 emissions. This is one of the ways Maes is demonstrating its commitment to a more sustainable future.
< BACK TO OVERVIEWTo optimize the production line, Maes is installing new, state-of-the-art inspection and packaging machines. This modern technology ensures greater efficiency and higher precision in quality control. The investment supports faster turnaround times and improved customer satisfaction. The new packaging method uses 40% less plastic. This strengthens Maes' position as an innovative and reliable partner in the textile industry.
< BACK TO OVERVIEWThibaut and Aurélie Maes are taking over the company from their father, Jef Maes. With the transition to the 4th generation, they are writing a new chapter in the family tradition.
